Migraines SUCK!

The intensity, the relentlessness, the misery. The days lying in the dark waiting for it to be over. The daily responsibilities that still have to be done, even when you’ve got that migraine hangover. The people around you that just don't get it. The hopelessness. Thinking back to the way you used to be, the things you used to do, and maybe on the verge of giving up and accepting that this is your life now. No one should have to deal with that!

You’re already managing your triggers as best you can.  You may have already tried physical therapy, or massage, or any number of other natural approaches.  You may have even gotten good results with a Neuromuscular Therapist who treated your trigger points, but then you moved and haven’t yet found someone locally.  Until now.

Are you ready to cut your migraine days in half?

Yes?  Good.

What you’ll get:

  • Less reliance on medications

  • More days of functioning at your best

  • No more ghostly always-there headaches on your non-migraine days

  • Ability to resume physical activity without triggering a migraine

  • More quality time with family and friends instead of lying alone in a dark, quiet room

How we do it

We’ve noticed over the years that most of our migraine patients have active myofascial trigger points in their neck and upper shoulders that provoke tension headaches. The tension headaches then trigger migraines.

Treat the trigger points to have fewer migraines

Will our approach work for you?

That depends.  Do your migraines ever start with tension in the neck?

Yes?  Then our experience tells us that this will work for you too.

But if we’re wrong …

… you’ll know at the end of the first treatment.  Just tell us this is not for you.  We won’t charge you for the visit, and we’ll part as friends.

What is the treatment?

I’m a physical therapist now, but I was a massage therapist before, so it’s the best of both worlds. Lots of very specialized massage that calms down the trigger points so they stop provoking headaches. For some patients, other things as well, such as dry needling and/or cold laser. Each person is a little different. It’s not one-size-fits-all.

How much does it cost?

I currently charge $120 per visit regardless of what we do.  So there are never any surprise charges.

Each visit is about an hour.

Do you take my insurance?

We don’t take insurance of any kind.  In some cases, we can give you the paperwork (already filled out) that you can send to your insurance company afterwards.  Of course, we have no control over whether they ultimately reimburse you.

How many treatments will it take?

It depends.  If you don’t have any perpetuating factors, a handful of visits will typically get your migraines under control.  You will be able to tell me when we’re done.

On the other hand, if you’re doing something in your daily life that keeps the trigger points active, we’ll need to figure that out so you can change it.  The way you’re sitting at the computer?  The way you’re nursing the baby?  The way you’re tilting your head when watching TV?  Once we figure out what keeps aggravating the trigger points, we can usually find a different way for you to do things that does not keep hurting your body.  That’s when you won’t need me much longer.
